James Dudley, is in his fourteenth year as a Criminal Justice Lecturer at his alma mater SF State.

He holds a MAS in Criminology and Social Ecology from UC Irvine.  He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Jim Dudley has extensive experience as a practitioner in law enforcement and criminal justice in San Francisco. A 32 year veteran of the San Francisco Police Department, he has served in the ranks as a patrol officer, Sergeant, Inspector, Lieutenant, Captain, Commander and Deputy Chief. He served in all bureaus including Airport, Administration, Special Operations, Homeland Security, Investigations and Patrol Operations.

He is an author of Recruitment and Retention of Gen Z Law Enforcement Officers (Blue360 Media, 2024).

Jim is the host of the “Policing Matters” podcast and YouTube series.
