Youth Justice Now! Youth Justice How? A Colloquium on the Struggles and Successes of Transformative Approaches to Youth Justice
Overview
Every day, Bay Area youth face and overcome structural barriers to their wellbeing. Racism, marginalization, criminalization, and various forms of oppression are too often common features of young people’s lives.
Youth Justice Now! Youth Justice How? will bring together individuals whose lived and professional experience can shed light on the struggles and successes involved with striving for transformative youth justice in the Bay Area and beyond.
Co-Organized by the Department of Criminal Justice Studies, Project Rebound, Fresh Lifelines for Youth, and Larkin Street Youth Services this community-building event aims to be conversational, educational, and empowering.
Structure of the event:
11:30am. Film Screening: Setting the stage for the day’s conversation, we’ll begin with a private showing of Just Free: Systems Impacted Youth Surviving San Francisco.
12:30pm. Roundtables with Experts: In conversation with small groups of attendees, our invited speakers will share their experience and perspective on the colloquium’s guiding questions.
1:15pm. Closing Remarks & Social: The event will end with closing remarks by our invited speakers, and a closing reception to connect informally.
