Overview

We are excited to invite you to an upcoming film screening of a documentary, "A Better Way: Inside the Fight to Close San Francisco's Juvenile Hall" on April 23, 2025 from 4-6pm in Marcus Hall 224. 

This film was created by SF State Professor Andrew Hongo in the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts (BECA) department, and features our very own CJS faculty member, Professor Dan Macallair. The event will be a screening of the film, along with a panel discussion with filmmaker and local community members such as Julia Arroya from the Young Women's Freedom Center who was featured in the film.  The event is sponsored by the Criminal Justice Students Association, Project Rebound, SF State Presents, and the departments of Criminal Justice Studies and BECA.
