General Education Requirements

New Upper Division GE Overview

  • Minimum of 9 upper division units required
  • Students should begin taking upper division GE after completing 60 units and one course in lower division GE area A4 with a grade of C- or better.
  • Students must complete one course in each of the three domains of knowledge: Physical/Life Science (UD-B), Arts/Humanities (UD-C) and Social Sciences (UD-D)
  • Overlay courses fulfill graduation requirements, but do not have unit requirements. Students must take at least one course in each of the four areas:
    • American Ethnic and Racial Minorities (AERM)

    • Environmental Sustainability (ES)

    • Global Perspectives (GP)

    • Social Justice (SJ)

  • Overlay fulfillments are given in parentheses. All of these courses fall under the Social Sciences domain (UD-D) unless indicated with a ^.
